Why bad things happened?

One day king Akbar with his companion Birbal were going for the hunting in the forest, as Akbar took his sword out his finger cuts accidently and he was bleeding.
Akbar in nervousness said to his soldiers to call the doctor immediately, Birbal was observing that the king is tensed and said to king that "relax my lord, everything happens for good".
The king was very angry on the words of Birbal and he said "My finger cuts and I am bleeding and you said everything happens for good, what's good in it, soldiers first take Birbal away and hang him upside-down and hit him with lashes all night than hang him till death early morning".
The soldiers follow the order and takes Birbal away and the king went alone to continue his hunting suddenly the indigenous people surrounded and arrested the king and than they hangs the king upside-down and performing their rituals in order to sacrifice the king in the name of their god.
The king realized that it is the return of what he did to Birbal and was very ashamed of his actions, suddenly a member of that group saws that the king is bleeding and says that "he is not pure for sacrificing now" and they leave the king.
The king thought that Birbal maybe hanged right now but he tried his best to reach Birbal, when he reached there the soldiers were about to hang him, he stopped them and pleasing Birbal to forgive him, because of him he was alive today.
Birbal replied "relax my lord, everything happens for good". The king said "Birbal are you mad, what's good in it for you, you were tortured all night and you can't even stand right now".
Birbal takes a deep breath and said "king if both of us together were arrested by them, they would sacrifice me instead of you, therefore I said that everything happens for good".
